Q: How do I find a community and network?

I got a lot of questions in my Instagram AMA earlier this week about finding a creative community. Taking classes and joining a community like Skillshare is an amazing way to meet likeminded people – and how I made many of my friends. Especially if you're not in a creative hub of a city, the internet has made it so much easier to find your tribe.

Another thing to consider about networking is to not go out there thinking “I’m networking for work.”. Go out there and think about what you can contribute to the community, what you have to offer, and how you can help others. Even when we’re starting out, it’s important to give first. We all have something we can contribute – especially if it’s just encouragement, words of support, and a loyal friendship! And you’ll attract the right people into your life if you approach it with this positive, generous attitude. I promise.

BTW even though I was a student first, I also chose to teach on Skillshare because of the community and the accessibility - one subscription price gets you access to 1,000's of amazing classes from teachers who are professionals in their field. AND you have direct access to them – I always respond to every class project posted in my classes, and can give direct and specific feedback. I ❤️ my students!

Try it out for a month free and really devote yourself to the community. You may just surprise yourself with what and who you’ll find.
