My 7 Favorite Podcasts to Listen to While Painting

I’m the type of person who focuses better when there’s background noise, especially when I’m getting into the flow of painting or anything work-related. Nowadays, I’m a big podcast listener, and these podcasts have become my coworkers, my friends, and my late night studio companions. I hope you find something that inspires you too!

Here are seven favorites that I listen to regularly:

Forever35

A podcast about the things we do to take care of ourselves – is there anything more necessary right now? I adore this thoughtful podcast from Doree Shafrir and Kate Spencer, and have listened to every episode. I was even lucky enough to be a guest on Forever35 – you can catch my episode here! (Fun fact: I designed their podcast cover!)

Sinisterhood

My current favorite true crime podcast. There are so many great ones out there, and I always come back to Sinisterhood. Comedians & friends Christie Wallace and Heather McKinney (bonus, Heather is also a lawyer so she brings her expertise into their stories) share true crime and supernatural stories from a compassionate, well-researched, and hilarious perspective.

Maintenance Phase

A smart and hilarious podcast debunking health fads and wellness scams, hosted by Aubrey Gordon and Michael Hobbes. The antidote to all the wellness junk out there, and makes you feel better about how we’re doing the best we can as humans, always.

Add to Cart

A podcast about the things we consume and what it says about us, so funny and (mostly) lighthearted. I love the two hosts – Kulap Vilaysack and SuChin Pak. SuChin was my first Asian American icon as the correspondent for MTV News back in the day – we all wanted to be cool like her! I also love getting to listen to a podcast from two Asian American creatives.

Fat Mascara

A fun beauty podcast by two beauty editors, Jessica Matlin and Jennifer Sullivan. I love their interviews and their news segments, and their insider perspective. I also love their East Coast accents.

The Marie Forleo Podcast

Marie Forleo is an inspiring and mega successful business coach, with amazing hair, and interviews the most interesting people – mostly entrepreneurs. Whenever I need an inspiration boost or reframe in my business, I like to binge through her library.

The Tiffany Han Show

Tiffany Han is a business coach for highly ambitious people, and the best thing about her work is that it’s so grounded in helping us find joy and creating a life that feels good – not just good on paper. I always get inspired when I listen! I’ve also been lucky enough to be a guest on this show three times:
Ep 114. On Reinvention
Ep. 234 On Rest, Routines, and Resetting
Ep. 338 On Fashion (and Baking!) as Resistance

I hope you discovered a new podcast here, and if you have a favorite I’d love to hear it!
